Ukraine Adopts Copyright Laws.


		Kyiv (UFS). Verhovna Rada in its session, and in unison passed a law "On copyright and associated rights", - a correspondent of UFS reported. Particularly the law defines such terms as creator of video program, video program, author, signature, counterfeit copy, organization of collective management (for material rights), broadcasting organization, cable broadcasting organizing, piracy in a field of copyright and/or associated rights, copy of works, copying of videos and recordings, official work, public property, pseudonym, public showing of audiovisual work, fine arts' creation, quotations, etc.

In addition, the law recognizes the rights of the institution (or individual) in the field of copyright and similar rights; presumption of authorship, and also determines the copyright duration - for the period of the author's life plus 70 years after his death;

It also excludes from the law criteria for providing protection under corresponding rights and establishes legal protection of the subjects of such corresponding rights It also provides for the diverting to the state budget of funds received in case of confiscation of materials and equipment used in counterfeit production.
