Kontrakty" narrates that companies offering PR services are very
scarce in Ukraine. The foreigners founded the first companies and
they were also the first to use the PR services. And it's not surprising
when we come to realize that words, like "advertising", "marketing",
"public relations" are quite new in our everyday vocabulary. So
we are currently picking up the experience from our foreign colleagues.
It's beyond any doubt that PR is a very prestigious and lucrative business. Unfortunately, domestic entrepreneurs are not aware that application of the PR strategy can turn out to be very effective. The volatile economic situation in the country forces a great deal of businessmen to cut the expenses on advertising, marketing, and public relations. Sometimes they do not even realize that PR's objective is to overcome the critical situations. Regarding the PR service's cost, it is far from being cheap. For example, an average PR agency will charge you $50-100 per hour; a freelance specialist can offer you a deal varying between $10 and $50 per hour. |
However, only the most
experienced and competent PR agencies are capable of solving the most difficult problems and satisfying the most demanding customers. Some specialists assert that the employment of the PR technologies will increase in the foreseeable future. They believe that the state institutions' demand for the PR services will also trigger many new companies to crop up. However, the political parties and others involved in the election campaigns will remain the major PR agencies' clients. |

 The
existence of the public relations in Ukraine is the topic of hot
discussion. Some argue that PR does not exist in Ukraine; others
allege that it does exist and has its own schools, principles, theories
and "national peculiarities". It's clear that the PR market has
not been formed yet and theory is at the very first stage of its
appearance that has also been delayed for too long. There are several
reasons that hinder the development of PR in Ukraine, namely the
low market potential brought about the cut in resources earmarked
for the marketing purposes; theory has nothing to do with the practice,
and advertising and PR projects have almost no results.
